With the success of our first year behind us we are looking forward to the 2013 racing season.

Each year we will have riders graduate to the next level, at this time, the team would like to say thank you to Cam Mason and Christian Ricci who will be moving to the Invita-FCV racing team for 2013. Cam & Christian had a great 2012 season with multiple race wins and will carry forward their racing experience to their new team.

There will be a number of riders coming to Team Attack - FCV from the youth program at the track in the next few months. These new road racers will be racing in all of the Youth Cup races and learning as much as possible in 2013.

I'm really looking forward to the first training ride on the road in the spring (only a few months away). Rhys and I plan to enhance the Saturday morning rides with more distance for the team. There will be ride leaders who will plan the route and be the go to person on these rides. We may include a Sunday training session as well.

Also new for 2013 is a weekly Crit Series for youth (U19) in London. These Monday evening Skills sessions & Races will be age appropriate and will utilize the current London circuits. We will be asking for helpers to make sure corners are swept and marshalled. More information as it becomes available.

Do not forget to bring a friend to the FCV any Saturday at 2:30pm to take the intro Velo-Kids session at the Velodrome.

2012 Year End Wrap Up

Nov 13, 2012

Our first year as Team Attack has finished and we couldn’t be prouder!

...

Our first year as Team Attack has finished and we couldn’t be prouder!

On the TRACK: Three of our junior men represented team Canada at the Jr. Pan-Ams, one of whom went on to the Junior Worlds. We raced great at the Provincials and qualified 2 juniors and 1 cadet on team Ontario at the track Nationals in September bringing home two medals.

On the ROAD: Our swarm of squirt boys were consistently ending up with 3 in the top 5 and we can claim the provincial champion! Our minime and cadet boys were able to fight off larger and well drilled teams to finish on the podium  with regularity.  Our junior men dominated, even sweeping the podium on more than one occasion.

Honourable mention to Charlotte, who usually had to fight off teams of 8 to 10 cyclists to get to her podiums.

CYCLO-CROSS – Charlotte also dominated the cyclo-cross tour along with her sister Farleigh of Invita-FCV.

Speaking of our sister team – Invita-FCV had an outstanding year as well, our cadet and junior women (the pink ladies) were on the podium at every race they attended including 2 medals at the Jr. Pan-Ams and 10 at the track Nationals.  We can claim the cadet women’s youth cup champion, 2 provincial crit champs, and a provincial TT champ.

Team Attack is the result of the efforts of a small number of dedicated former youth racers, current youth coaches and cycling enthusiasts dedicated to developing youth cycling in Southern Ontario. Our team is non-for-profit and completely inclusive. We are supported by local cycling clubs through financial and logistical support. We prepare youth for competitive racing within Southern Ontario in races sanctioned by the governing body – Ontario Cycling Association. These races are part of a series of races in the Ontario Youth Cup Road Series which sees participation from over 100 competitive cyclists aged 9-16 years every season with attendance by participating families and interested fans. This is the proving ground for the professional cyclists and Olympians of the future. Our coaches have produced provincial and national level athletes who have successfully moved on to junior and senior level racing.

Cheers.
