Mid Season Report - Orian
Jul 22, 2014
This season is my first season in the Peewee (U13) age category. Compared to the Squirt (U11) category, Peewee is harder because the competition is stronger. I am racing with some older kids now, like Hayden C. (my teammate) and Richard E., which is a new challenge. The distances are a little longer, but I don’t think that has changed the racing much.
At the beginning of the season, I didn’t have a great start because I was sick a few times during the winter and missed some of my training rides. However, I have been feeling healthy during the season and I’m improving. I’ve been on the podium twice (in the Tourism London Grand Prix and the Windsor Youth Cup) and I know I can podium again this season.
My best moment of the season so far was at the Windsor Youth Cup. I crashed but I still managed to place third in the road race and third overall.
I am most looking forward to the Provincial Championships. I hope I can win it, or at least get on the podium. I know my competition is very tough, but I think I will be strong enough to be an equally tough competitor.
Thank you to all of the sponsors for supporting our team as we race in the 2014 season!
Mid Season Report - Wesley
Jul 21, 2014
This year I'm a fist year Peewee. I've just moved up from the Squirt category where I won the overall points. I'm currently 4th in the overall standing.
It was a one-and-a-half km course, and I did 8 laps. The wind was strong and it was really cold. I got 4th overall.
It was really hard because the peloton leaders kept the pace high, dropping people of the back. It came down an uphill sprint finish. I had a good 3rd place. I was happy to be on the podium.
I made an early attack in the road race which got me away for while. It was a sprint finish where I came in 3rd. I came in 4th overall.
Tourism London Grand Prix
The race leaders again kept the pace high and no one wanted to take a pull on the front. The exciting final lap had lots of attacks like mine on the straightaway. I got a hard 4th place.
Windsor was a tough day for me. I didn't get on the podium. But I'm training very well right now and am excited to improve my overall standing in the next race.

Barrie Youth Cup report by Hayden C.
May 27, 2014
As the Barrie race came closer and closer I got more nervous and more anxious nervous because I didn't do very much riding over the winter and anxious because I was really looking forward to seeing my team and making more new friends this year. Coming into this race I had about 1 and a half months of training right at the beginning of March and it was a little disappointing not being able to go out to the velodrome at all last winter. May 17 2014 the race approached and when I arrived in Barrie it was freezing cold so I could barely stand outside and I don't know about any of the other people at this race but I just wanted to sit in a nice heated car and stay warm. I knew that I had to eventually warm up so ten minutes later I went out on the course with about 3 layers on the top and bottom of my body. I went around the course once and then went to go register. The registration was pretty good, there wasn't a big line and it wasn't confusing. I went back to my car and took off one of my jackets and went around this course 4-5 times.
The Time Trial started and I felt good. I gave a burst of energy and started off into the hardest, windiest place in the course. I came in with a good time I thought, but I knew that at least Dylan beat me because I didn't gain any time. I was still very happy with second.
Then it was race time and I knew i had some really tough competition. 3, 2, 1, GO! We started fast for 3 seconds and then we hit one of the windiest stretches I have ever faced, and we slowed down to about 10 km/hr. It was tight with everyone in the pack. We got around the second corner and there was still wind, then the third...and finally a relief. It broke down to about 5 or 4 racers then 3 and then Dylan from Midweek made a break I couldn't get around the person in front of be in time. I tried to bridge and dropped the guys behind me but couldn't catch Dylan. He was way out in first alone, me in second alone, with Wesley Daniel and Orian chasing. Dylan got farther and farther away from me and by then I knew I probably wasn't going to come first so I battled for second it seemed to me that the wind was getting stronger and stronger......and for me that wouldn't be good:( I battled hard and ended up coming second with a smile on my face. Not long after the awards came, and I got my medal and then went home to have a nice long rest.
Barrie Youth Cup
May 17, 2014
The FCV was well represented at the first Youth Cup race of 2014. 21 racers were at the line in 8 Categories.
8 podiums on the first day of racing!
Bitter winds from the North West greeted the families as over 100 races began to register. The Team Van and trailer were well used by the athletes trying to warm up and stay warm for their events. Many new racers were in the pit for the first time... excitement was evident on everyone's face. Parents scurrying around to make sure water bottle were filled, and the eager racers were well fed.... Art & I missed the food, maybe next time:)
The Youth Cup Series is a combination Time Trial and Road Race, with accumulated points awarded after each event. These were the FCV Racers in the top 5 in each Category.

Last season, our small but mighty team won 30% of all podiums available on the youth cup circuit and finished 3rd overall in the youth club challenge points (if you add Team Attack and FCV together), that's a tough target to beat, but I have faith that we can with this year's amazing team! Team Attack - FCV Gears up for 2013
Dec 14, 2012
With the success of our first year behind us we are looking forward to the 2013 racing season.
Each year we will have riders graduate to the next level, at this time, the team would like to say thank you to Cam Mason and Christian Ricci who will be moving to the Invita-FCV racing team for 2013. Cam & Christian had a great 2012 season with multiple race wins and will carry forward their racing experience to their new team.
There will be a number of riders coming to Team Attack - FCV from the youth program at the track in the next few months. These new road racers will be racing in all of the Youth Cup races and learning as much as possible in 2013.
I'm really looking forward to the first training ride on the road in the spring (only a few months away). Rhys and I plan to enhance the Saturday morning rides with more distance for the team. There will be ride leaders who will plan the route and be the go to person on these rides. We may include a Sunday training session as well.
Also new for 2013 is a weekly Crit Series for youth (U19) in London. These Monday evening Skills sessions & Races will be age appropriate and will utilize the current London circuits. We will be asking for helpers to make sure corners are swept and marshalled. More information as it becomes available.
Do not forget to bring a friend to the FCV any Saturday at 2:30pm to take the intro Velo-Kids session at the Velodrome.
